With solid drums, bass, guitar and vocals, Dead Sara grabs your attention and runs with it.
Singer, Emily Armstrong, forges a poetic journey with fragile yet fiery lyrics, dissecting a path to authentic being with sheer grit, sorting out truth from outside opinion, and rising above with no lack of backbone. The track “Lemon Scent” showcases their unique sound with a composition all their own. On guitar, Siouxsie Medley shreds riffs like no ones business, Chris Null rounds it out on bass, and Sean Friday adds the perfect blend of restraint and drum “solos” layered within the track, to create a prime example of their loosely knit, full bodied sound.
Heavier tracks like “Weatherman”, “Monumental Holiday” and “Test on My Patience” piece together aggressively darker, gritty tones, topped perfectly with Armstrong’s solid vocals. Quite a versatile singer, she seamlessly slips into a more melodic role in the tracks “Whisper & Ashes”, ”Dear Love”, “Face to Face” and “Sorry for it All” The most prime example being “Timed Blues”, with it’s old country rock style. Upon first listen it’s easy to make the comparison to Stevie Nicks, yet with a more modern and rough twist.
Look for Dead Sara on the Vans Warped Tour this summer. Until then, check their solid videos below.
